Philosophy

Anyone that knows me is aware that sport has been a passion of mine for a long time.  I have found that not only do I enjoy participating in sport, I have found that I enjoy sharing my knowledge and get huge satisfaction in seeing people improve and watching the smiles on their faces when they achieve their goals.  This desire to help people has evolved to assisting people improve the quality of their life through better nutrition, fitness and reducing stress levels.  I have found that the three go hand in hand, each one helps the other.

I want to help people of all walks of life, whether they are overweight, have low self esteem or are seeking to achieve a particular goal such as losing 4 stone or running the London marathon.  The determination that gave me cycling success is the same determination that I have to help people improve their lifestyles.  When I train someone or help with nutritional advice, I see it is as a double-edged challenge, ie for my client and for me.  That's how much pride I take in my work.

Diets do not work!  I have known people yo-yo diet all their lives and constantly struggle to lose weight.  You may wonder why they don't work.  With most diets, you will usually lose some weight quickly but the weight you lose is predominantly water not fat.  Sorry to break that to you.  Some diets, ie those high in fat or protein, can cause health problems. 

One of the main problems with diets is that you have not changed your eating habits long term.  Also, they may require you to consume food that you may not like very much and isn't very satisfying.  Many diets cause your metabolism to slow, this means that you are actually burning fewer calories than you were before you started to diet.

The sooner you realise that you actually need to change your lifestyle the better. 

Do you have low self esteem or hate your body?  Are you conscious of what others think of the way you look?  Do you have health problems which could have been avoided with some exercise and a healthier lifestyle?  Is work taking over your life?
